8 Reasons Why Today's WWE Raw Is WCW In Disguise
1. Goldberg Is World Champion
Perhaps the starkest similarity between today’s Raw and WCW is the man at the top of the pile. After beating Kevin Owens in that Fastlane main event, a 50-year-old Goldberg is now the top-tier champion on the Monday night brand.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, considering the kind of reactions he’s been receiving after returning in October of last year. But with his win arriving in just 22 seconds, at the hands of a guy close to half his age, and with him still being a part-timer at the end of the day, you can see why some fans are suitably peeved at the move to make Goldberg Universal champ.
As with most points on this list, though, there’s a whole lot of logic behind the parallels. Goldberg became a huge pro wrestling star back on WCW programming, and so his return to WWE was naturally going to see him afforded top billing.
So, unfortunately for conspiracy theorists amongst us, and despite the aforementioned reasons, don’t expect to see Monday Night Raw follow the same path that WCW did.
But by all means, feel free to share any other similarities you’ve noticed between Raw and WCW in the comments section below.
