8 Reasons Why WWE Women’s Tag Division Has Failed

2. Can They Co-Exist?

This entry title applies to the entirety of Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax’s pairing as a tag team, but it also could serve as a criticism of any "odd couple" thrown together.

The duo were thrust together as rivals who inexplicably decided to team up to capture tag gold. Sheamus & Cesaro this was not.

Throughout their entire run as a team, Shayna & Nia constantly sniped at each other. They argued, turned their backs on each other during matches, argued some more, and finally disintegrated as a team due in part to Reggie and Alexa Bliss. (The less that's said about Baszler's "feud" with Bliss and her doll Lilly, the better.) It was an entirely ridiculous pairing, and yet they were either the champs or top contenders for the bulk of empty arena era.

Watching the two of them try to co-exist as a team and struggle – even while holding the titles for months at a time – was unbearable. It felt like watching a program on repeat. They were a constant low point for the tag division, when you’d think they could have been a highlight.

And let's not forget that several women's tag champs have been thrown-together tandems: Asuka & Charlotte Flair, Nikki ASH & Rhea Ripley, and even Queen Zelina & Carmella were suddenly a pair after feuding briefly.
