3. He Was Meant To Retire Last Year

When The Undertaker left his gloves in the ring last year – MMA code for retiring from the cage – fans begun speculating that his match with Shane McMahon may have been his last ride. He also reportedly told those waiting backstage that he was done with 'Mania. That made it even more surprising when he showed up on Smackdown around Survivor Series, then on RAW a few months later.

Apparently, Taker originally wanted to retire around WrestleMania 28, but Vince McMahon convinced him otherwise. Then, a deal was made that would see him ride off into the pro wrestling sunset at WrestleMania 32, in front of a record crowd in his home state. But Vince once again convinced Taker for one more go.

It doesn’t fit The Undertaker’s old school philosophy to retire by beating the boss’s son, but it makes a lot more sense that he would sign on for one more event, just to put somebody like Roman Reigns over as an even bigger deal. When somebody staves off retirement for several years, it only makes said retirement more likely as each subsequent year passes.
