8 Stars WWE And TNA Made A Mistake In Not Pushing

5. Mike Awesome

Again, it seemed like Paul Heyman and ECW saw potential in a guy who wouldn't see it fulfilled elsewhere, as Mike Awesome was actually the heir to Taz's throne in 1999. Shortly after his title win, Awesome would jump to WCW, then WWE, and eventually TNA before disappearing from the mainstream wrestling scene in the years before his death. Heyman had a size, strength, and agility combination in which most professional wrestling companies would drool over these days. This unique skill set was shown in every match, often coupled with his ability to adapt to a hardcore style in which was becoming more popular at the turn of the century. While he was ridiculed mercilessly by the WWE stars in attendance, Awesome displayed his breathtaking talents at the original ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view in 2005. Outside of ECW, Awesome was never afforded the opportunity to thrust his career to the next level. It almost boggles the mind that a guy who could work so well, would be passed up in a business and a time period in which was so size-oriented, particularly when most guys his size weren't very good in the ring.
