8 Things We Learned At WWE Live In London
4. You Don't Have To Work Hard, Just Smart
Maybe this is less something to be "learned" at one of these shows and more just something to be admired in the wild, but it was remarkable to see how effectively some of the stars this evening used their ring time. Maximising their impact on the crowd, while minimising the impact on their bodies.
WWE's live show schedule is grueling. Countless former employees have talked about the long-term impact of taking bump after bump, night after night, for decades of their career; and in a company that specialiseses in globally broadcast multimillion-dollar events, putting your back out in front of a few hundred fans seems like poor management of assets.
All the more impressive then to see Finn Balor (comfortably the 3rd best-received performer after Drew and Becky), manage to keep the crowd hooked on a near 30-minute long segment that saw, at most, 5 of those spent working in the ring. Coming out after Seth Rollins had interrupted the finish to The Mysterios vs RooDolph to force an impromptu 6-man match, he did his best work on the mic and on the apron before getting the mother of all hot-tag pops.
Nice work if you can get it.
