8 Things We Learned From CM Punk's Sports Illustrated Appearance
8. He Recognizes Fan Interest In Backstage Dealings
One thing that many internet fans, smart marks, whatever you wish to call them have in common is that they are often extremely interested in the backstage politics of pro wrestling - sometimes more than the in-ring action itself! Really, someone should make a reality show about it. In any case, Punk acknowledges this, stating;
"Backstage is so shark-infested and political. Its almost comical. A lot of people are more interested in the backstage goings-on than what they see on television. A lot of ways its more fascinating. Its a competition for sure."
This type of fan is probably more prevalent than anyone realizes. You don't really expect a worker to admit that, however, but then, Punk is gone from that world.
