WWE’s previous earnings conference call spun the narrative that WWE are extremely dedicated to pleasing their hardcore audience, and this theme continued here. McMahon and Barrios were once again throwing their favourite buzzword (“super-serving”) around as they described the report’s positive points, particularly when it came to the Network.

The streaming service allows subscribers to access an unparalleled content library, and helps WWE reach their pre-existing fanbase in ways that weren’t possible a few years ago. WWE’s focus on “super-serving” their pre-existing fanbase did give one caller the impression that the company are focused more on their current consumer base over growth, but Vince dismissed this, stating that “there is a huge ongoing effort to grow the base.”

Barrios mentioned WWE will continue to invest in creating new content as a means of increasing their viewership, suggesting that new Network exclusives are on the way. It was an unconvincing rebuttal, but as easy as it is to roll your eyes at the “super-serving” catchphrase, there’s no doubt that WWE’s product range is more diverse today than ever before. Whether this results in a stream of new fans is another matter entirely, however.
