8 Things We Learned From WWE's Opening XFL 2020 Games

5. Post-Touchdown Plays Are Awesome

There are kicks in the XFL, albeit not as many as in the NFL. Punts remain, kick offs are there (tweaked ones anyway) and teams can still boot field goals if they're facing a 4th and 10 on the 20 yard line, for example. Then, there's one of the league's biggest changes, and it's one that spices up the post-touchdown possibilities.

In the XFL, there aren't any PAT kicks for one single tacked-on point. Instead, teams must choose between running a play from the 2, 5 or 10 yard lines. In order, those markers will glean either 1, 2 or 3 extra points to add on the 6 given for a touchdown.

If you're sitting on the fence about this, get off it.

These post-score plays add even more offence to the game and keep defensive lines guessing about passes or runs. It also means coaches need to come armed with some clever schemes that outwit opponents, and it stops teams from settling into a groove of touchdown, kick, touchdown, kick.
