2. The New Day, Edge, Christian And Whatever This Was
Was this a face turn from The New Day? The endorsement from Edge & Christian, the running down of heels and eventual dancing with E&C would point towards the answer being 'yes'. I'm not alone in believing this a terrible yet inevitable decision. Xavier, Kofi and E became the most entertaining portion of the show as heels, and WWE just love to rush face turns because of natural, organic reactions. The problem is that everything that makes them enjoyable can only work as heels. Take anything they have done in the last few months, put it through the WWE babyface grinder and the chances are you'll get a neutered version of an excellent thing that quickly becomes boring. This may sound overly cynical, but take a look at WWE's track record with such things and get back to me. Another thing this garbage segment achieved was impressive however, and that was making the League of Nations look even more pathetic than they did previously. The League is in a sorry state at this point, four immensely talented men looking completely directionless. Sheamus was World Champion a couple of months back, Barrett once terrorised the entire company as the leader of a militant group of invaders, Del Rio is respected and decorated star and Rusev entered last year's WrestleMania on a TANK. Simply put, on RAW tonight the League must destroy New Day, and destroy them well. A WrestleMania match between the two factions would then be on the horizon, with a chance to salvage the League as well as helping New Day move through the choppy waters over to the good guys' side.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
