8 Times Disrespected Wrestlers Went Nuts On Reporters
2. Hulk Hogan Goes Nuts On Richard Belzer
Before the very first Wrestlemania, back in 1985, Hulk Hogan and Mr T appeared on a show called Hot Properties, hosted by Richard Belzer.
Throughout the interview, the host acted in a generally patronising way, to the point that it was obvious to everyone at home that, at the very least, Mr T was upset, and anyone who upsets Mr T has a beating coming their way. When Belzer asked Hogan to show him some moves, Mr T barked "we ain't here to show you no moves, man", but was calmed when Hogan leaned down to whisper in his ear "I'm gonna make him squeal."
In front of the studio audience, Hogan then locked him in a Guillotine Choke, or a front chin lock, and, unbeknownst to Hogan, it was locked in so tight that Belzer passed out. When the Hulkster released the hold, the unconscious Belzer hit the deck so hard that he busted his skull open on the floor.
He would then go on to sue the WWF, settling out of court for a large, undisclosed sum.
When the show returned from the break, Mr T used the incident to sell how tough professional wrestlers were, and how much passion they have for their sport. He referenced another incident that occurred the previous year when a TV reporter underestimated the intensity of a professional wrestler; perhaps one of the most infamous wrestler interviews in history...
