8 Times The Rock Proved He CAN Cut A Bad Promo

2. Smackdown's 10th Anniversary

Look, anytime The Rock returns to the WWE after a long enough absence, people are probably going to lose their s--t over it, no matter how uneven his last appearance in the company may have gone. That's because, no matter how you feel about him these days, there's always the chance he'll step back in time to recapture the spirit of his old, electrifying self. (Which he's done numerous times over the last decade.)

But that excitement can quickly turn to disappointment, especially when his big return is projected on the TitanTron. Rather than coming to electrify the millions from inside the ring, he appears on the big screen in a pre-recorded segment. And that's just not how The Great One should be presented.

In any case, the segment started out pretty great, with The Rock testing out various lead-ins to the promo and toying with the camera crew. That part was Classic Brahma Bull.

It's once he starts actually talking about something that it goes off the rails. "BM Punk"? That's what you come up with to insult the reigning World Champion? From there he goes into some, quiet, rambling self-deprecation that not even the live crowd - who actually cheered the BM Punk comment - could get on board with.
