8 Times Vince McMahon Regretted Huge WWE Contracts

4. Rob Gronkowski

To paraphrase Randy Savage, Rob Gronkowski's WWE career appears to be nothing more than a cup of coffee in the big time.

Having signed a contract with WWE back in March of this year, many wrestling fans were wincing at the prospect of seeing Gronk as a semi-regular presence on WWE TV over the next couple of years. Thankfully, the legendary NFL tight end was with the company for barely a month before deciding that he wanted to return to the football field with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The final figure on Gronkowski's WWE contract was never officially revealed, although Dave Meltzer had previously suggested that Gronk would be on a similar salary as Ronda Rousey to work a schedule more akin to Brock Lesnar. That means approximately $5 million for a handful of matches each year.

Given how it was Gronkowski's call to scrap this contract, WWE has likely not been hit too hard in the pocket by any of this. The regret for the company here, mind, is more than they'd put so much time, effort, and financial commitment into securing the signature of Rob Gronkowski, only to see Gronk walk away from that deal merely weeks into it.
