8 Times Wrestlers Faced Themselves

7. The Great Muta

Keiji Mutoh wrestled under several names during his decades-long career -- most famously as the face-painted, mist-spraying Great Muta -- but during his run in All Japan Pro Wrestling, he discovered that branding was a double-edged sword.

While making a name for himself as Keiji Mutoh in 2004, he found himself staring across the ring at... The Great Muta.

On three separate occasions in the month of December, Mutoh battled "The Great Muta" in tag team matches, coming out on the losing end of things in two of the three matches.

Mutoh finally faced his impostor one-on-one at The Unchained World event on 5 December, defeating him and sending him packing.

Oddly enough, the impostor was none other than Johnny "The Bull" Stamboli, who would use a variation of his fake Great Muta gimmick when he jumped to TNA and was renamed Rellik.
