8 Times WWE Tag Team Partners Fought Each Other

Along with Edge and Christian (and the Dudleys), The Hardy Boys were one of the top double acts of the late 90s/early 2000s tag team renaissance. Their high-flying, stunt-filled matches with the aforementioned teams turned them into genuine superstars. The upshot, of course, was that their bodies started breaking down as they were in their early-to-mid 20s.

By the time winter 2001 rolled around, E&C were split up and it looked like WWE wanted the real-life brothers from Cameron, North Carolina to do the same. Upset with Jeff's selfishness and thrill-seeking ways, Matt began to grow more and more frustrated with the rainbow-haired warrior.

The straw that broke the camel's back came at the 2001 Survivor Series, where Jeff attempted a nutty Swanton Bomb off the top of a cage, instead of climbing to safety. The resulting miss ensured that The Dudley Boys unified the WWE and WCW Tag Team Champions, while Matt stood crestfallen at ringside.

In the weeks that followed, Matt and Jeff grew more and more apart, with Lita caught in the middle. This resulted in a match at Vengeance, where the two brothers collided (with Lita as special referee). Interestingly, this wasn't the first time they'd fought in a singles match on WWE TV, as the two had went one-on-one in a Hardcore Title match on Smackdown in spring 2000.

In a cruel twist of fate (haha, get it?), Matt was ill on the night of their big PPV showdown and the match suffered as a result. After their dreadfully disappointing showdown here - not helped by a crowd that didn't really want to see them fight - WWE management temporarily scrapped plans for them to go solo and took them off TV for a month.

The Hardys had another, more successful feud in 2009, when Matt turned on Jeff leading to a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania XXV, I Quit match at Backlash and Stretcher Match on Smackdown. Recently, the brothers resurrected their feud in TNA, which resulted in one of the most talked about videos of the year (you know which one).
