8 UFC Records That Will Be Broken (And 8 That Won't)
12. WON'T - Most Strikes Landed In A Single Fight
Record: Max Holloway - 290
Next Best: Nate Diaz - 238
Max Holloway is a striking machine! The Hawaii native has the most significant strikes landed in UFC history, despite fewer fights than many he shares that list with.
While his overall numbers of accumulation are impressive, it was one night in 2018 that really stands out.
The former Featherweight Champion absolutely pummelled a hapless Brian Ortega over four rounds at UFC 231, ending the fight via doctor stoppage before the fifth and final round could even begin. That means that Holloway actually missed out on a full five minutes more of increasing the outrageous number he had already accrued.
He landed an astronomical 290 significant strikes in four rounds of action, averaging 14.5 per minute, or if you really want to get silly with the stats, a significant strike every 4.1 seconds. That's strikes LANDED, not just thrown; he was hitting Ortega every four seconds for 20 minutes straight.
If that wasn't enough, he also broke the record for most strikes landed in a single round in that same fight, with an absurd 134, which had Ortega copping one every 2.2 seconds. The numbers are just ridiculous.
Only three other fighters have ever landed more than 200 in a single fight, of which two were full five-round bouts, yet Holloway was able to very-nearly crack the 300 mark, with a spare round still in his back pocket.
