8 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynasty (Results & Review)

8. Nothing Match, Nice Moment

Dynasty Willow Nightingale Julia Hart
AEW

If you missed Dynasty, you could simply read the recap of Julia Hart Vs. Willow Nightingale and not miss much from the experience.

It was a short formality of a match lacking in tension, drama, great action. Hart deserves credit for gutting through the match, which, to its credit, was a lively enough version of nothing much at all. It wasn't boring; it was lean, didn't allow the audience to drift off, and delivered an enormously popular result efficiently. It kept the fans guessing; few people will ever remember the decent sequence in which Willow hit a spinebuster but was trapped in a Hartless attempt after missing a missile dropkick, but on the night, the fans were into it. The match was faced with a stiff challenge. Everybody was happy with it in the building. It succeeded. Willow is your new TBS Champion after beating Hart with the Doctor bomb.

In the post-match, Mercedes Moné attempted to steal Willow's spotlight by dancing in her face just as the celebrations started. At this point, it's difficult to determine whether AEW is leaning into the idea that Moné is presenting herself as a natural heel, or if the Moné/Jennifer Pepperman collaboration is that oblivious. In any event, the reaction in Las Vegas will be molten one way or the other.
