8 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Night 2 (Jul 8)

3. Interest In The Women's Division Deepens

Nyla Rose
AEW

A modest Up, the return of Nyla Rose nonetheless opened up a mystery and developed her character in a manner that was consistent and not uninteresting.

The handicap squash match was only functional - the first opponent tagging out immediately was a nice touch between the show reel of moves - but it was only pretext to an announcement that makes sense and drops a hook for the weeks to come. The Nyla Rose character is a destructive elemental force that has nonetheless struggled with her temperament and suffered from a lack of consistency. This is something she is to address with the appointment of a manager, the identity of whom was left, astutely, to the imagination.

AEW last night created a dialogue around the future, not the quality, of a division.

Awesome Kong is a name doing the rounds on Twitter - she is a hoss with great presence AEW can still maximise - but irrespective of who it is, this is another key development in a Women's division that feels less like tokenism the deeper we settle in to 2020.
