8 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 22 - Results & Review)

6. That Roman Reigns & Nick Aldis Dynamic

The body language between Roman Reigns and Nick Aldis was very promising during their short sit-down discussion this week. Big fan of Roman trying to big league Aldis by dismissively pretending to Paul Heyman he doesn't know who Nick is. Then, Reigns claimed he calls the shots on SmackDown, not the GM.

Nick stood up to that and reinforced himself as a different kind of GM to Adam Pearce. That led to rising tensions between both men, but WWE smartly kept powder dry and didn't script things to boil over. Could Aldis be a future opponent for Reigns in 2024? Don't rule it out, people.

There's some chemistry, that's for sure.

The whole Bloodline saga cut its teeth in segments exactly like this one. Roman is a master of making seemingly insignificant promos mean something later on, and that causes fans to sit up and take notice of everything he does.

Great character work from both.
