8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (11 Aug)

3. A Trio Of Title Announcements

Christian Cage Don Callis
AEW

An extremely efficient segment played out after Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks vs. Dante Martin and the Sydal brothers, setting up three big title matches for upcoming shows.

The biggest is Christian Cage vs. Kenny Omega for the AEW World Title, which is now set for All Out. Cage one-upped the heels with this, revealing he had convinced Tony Khan to book an IMPACT World Title match between him and Omega for Rampage as well, before Jurassic Express put the cherry on top, with Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus challenging the Bucks next week.

AEW got a lot done here. Kudos.

Don Callis was tremendous early on, saying "there are 10 of us and only one of you" (there wasn't) to draw Jurassic out and building Cage's finisher up as one of the best he's ever seen, only to say he can't wait for Kenny to kick out of it. Props to Christian for handling the CM Punk chants well, too. Calling Callis a "Stamford stooge" and a "piece of sh*t carny" helped him navigate those potentially choppy waters, ensuring things never got as disruptive as they could have been.

Something bigger may be at work here. IMPACT executive Scott D'Amore was on commentary later on and got namedropped in this segment. That AEW have booked Omega vs. Cage twice in such quick succession is a red flag, too, making it impossible to be certain of this headlining the pay-per-view.

Stay tuned.
