8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (4 October - Results & Review)
3. A Star Is Born
Across two segments, Toni Storm once again was a total delight.
In the final part of her series of sit-down interviews with RJ City, she had a meltdown. Her best days were behind her, she'd been abandoned. In a great line reading, one that revealed that there is a more rational world distinct to that which resides in Storm's lost mind, RJ deadpanned "You're not even old!" This sparked an epiphany within Storm, of sorts anyway. It was difficult to tell whether she remembered she was 27 years old or deemed herself capable of living forever, but regardless: 'Timeless' Toni Storm was officially born. She had a very fun match with Skye Blue, too. Delighting in her starring role, she declared that it was time to slap Skye's tits off, and did precisely that before complaining that it hurt her "bloody hand".
This existed mostly to encourage Storm to express herself in her new role, and she did - she even did a better job than Kevin Kelly of the commercial break segue! - but this turned into a punchy back-and-forth TV match down the stretch far more dramatic and competitive than a character vehicle had any right to be.
Storm works good matches effortlessly, her layouts are very clever, and this delightful persona is her ticket to the red carpet.
