8 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (6 April)

2. Adam Cole's Best AEW Opponent So Far

Christian Cage gave Adam Cole his best AEW singles match to date last night, though its quality owed as much to the AEW World Title contender as it did Christian.

One of the most professional performers in the game, Christian matched the younger man's pace in last night's opener. He more than kept up with the former NXT Champion in a brisk encounter, the likes of which we don't often see from him, going beat-for-beat with one of the most dynamic wrestlers in the company. For his part, Cole toned down some of the more tedious habits that creep into his matches. Yes, there were numerous kickouts, but little touches like Christian surviving the Boom because Cole forgot to pull his kneepad down mattered.

Cole took the win by lowering the boom with the exposed knee, as he should have. reDRagon were then brawled away from ringside by Jurassic Express after trying to put the boots to Christian, clearing the way for Hangman Page to come out to a gigantic roar from the crowd, going nose-to-nose with his would-be contender in their hottest angle yet.

Though short, this sent their feud's intensity through the roof. Page palming Cole in the face and demanding his rival look at him when he's talking was the most assertive he has ever felt. Now, after surviving Lance Archer in a Texas Deathmatch, he is taking Cole to hell next week.
