3. The Judgment Day Vs Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

A match that felt over-familiar on the poster was anything but in action, not least because it was heated.

This hasn't been a guarantee even with buildings selling as well as they have in the last year or so, but the pattern is changing from the eerie silences that greeted some of these contests at the start of the year. Does this mean that the promise of great - if repetitive - action is at long last paying off?

Zayn and Owens had spoken about their desire to recapture the magic they felt at WrestleMania 39, and this may well have been their last chance. Though the pieces clearly slotted into place for an eight-man tag at Fastlane (and presumably something else looking further ahead to WarGames), there was a frantic energy about the closing stretch unlike any of the (many) other versions of this combination, particularly when Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso attempted to even things out when Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh got involved.

That the latter's interference was the difference-maker was key. He just earned the trust and respect of the group all over again, even if it remains to be seen if he can get a permanent spot. There'll come a point where Priest is the last holdout, which makes perfect use of him as the group's obvious breakout star.

Not to discount...
