8 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (19 Aug - Results & Review)

2. IC Champ For Life

WWE’s video production team long has been lauded as a crack unit that is able to churn out tremendous packages that can make anyone look like a million pounds.

Monday was no exception, as the video hyping Bron Breakker by tracing his path of destruction in NXT and onto the main roster perfectly encapsulated the second-generation wrestler’s rise to the Intercontinental Championship. Bron looked like a reckless killer who could snap at any given moment, which he then backed up in person later in a backstage promo.

Breakker talked about a tournament to determine his next title challenger as just a way for Adam Pearce to slow down his path of destruction through the roster, which was a really unique way of describing a tourney. Rather than being content to wait for his next victim, Bron wanted to tear through more wrestlers, but he left a very clear threat for whoever wins the tournament: he will spear the “poor soul” who wins through the floor.

This was solid stuff to continue to build Bron up as a big deal without having to offer up a sacrificial lamb in the ring or force him to cut a lengthy promo. Instead, the video set the table for the brief interview nicely.
