Britt Baker is bringing in a heater to watch her back while Rebel is injured and cannot do so was the crux of her backstage promo, following on from her suffering a broken wrist vs. Nyla Rose last week.
That's a fun angle, and it's interesting to speculate on who she might bring in. Either way, this was a confused segment from a currently confused character, who waxed lyrical about the jealous audience members waiting for her to fail... before conducting the entire building with her "D.M.D." spot.
There's a big disconnect between how AEW wants to present Baker and how she is being received by the audience at the moment, which must be addressed. Rather than a tweener believably fluttering across both sides of the alignment scale, she's chastising the crowd one moment then pandering to them the next, and it doesn't work.
Britt is one of the most naturally over people in the company, but there was nothing natural about this segment.
