8 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 20)

5. Sweet Revenge For Damascus

Sammy Guevara vs. Matt Hardy was no blow-away, must-see match, but still hit the right notes as a continuation of recent events.

This feud within a feud was taken up a notch when Hardy and Kenny Omega mowed 'The Spanish God' down with a golf cart in the arena-wide Street Fight. Guevara then took things a step too far with his role in the death of Vanguard 1, gleefully destroying Matt's loyal pal with a baseball bat last week. This, ahem, broke Hardy, who was despondent in the aftermath, promising, once more, to mash Sammy into a mofongo.

A great early moment saw Guevara counter out of a Twist of Fate by landing in a handstand, swinging the momentum back in his favour. Further swings followed as Hardy proved himself capable of hanging with an opponent like Guevara for 10-12 minutes. Rather disgustingly (in a good way), Matt took Sammy's boot off so he could bite his foot late on, finally hitting another Twist for the W.

Nice work all round.
