8 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Feb 11)

1. Making History

... because Jordynne Grace dethroned Taya Valkyrie of her Knockouts Championship.

After a lengthy 403 days of 'Wera Loca' on top, 'Thicc Mama Pump' put an end to Taya's reign on top of the knockouts division, and she did it in sensational fashion. Throughout the match, the challenger was continuously put through hellish bumps, taking both a powerbomb on the steel ring steps, and a Road to Valhalla on the stage, as well as the constant meddling of John E. Bravo. Clearly, Valkyrie wasn't having her reign ending without putting up the fight of her life firstly.

When the three was finally counted following a Grace Driver, the audience were pleased to see a new champion. Nothing like a WrestleMania pop, but a decent-sized pop nonetheless - to be fair, that one could be blamed on the way Impact produces their shows these days. Additionally, Josh Mathews sounded like he couldn't have possibly cared less when the title changed hands for the first time since 6 January 2019. Again, that could be a production issue as opposed to him actually not caring, but it's still worth mentioning.

The main point is that Jordynne Grace, as has been rather predictable for a good few months now, was the one to end the record-breaking title reign of Taya Valkyrie. Taya has now been established as one of the best to ever step foot in an Impact ring - not just one of the best Knockouts, but one of the best period. As for Jordynne, she's proven herself as a top-tier talent. If she's able to end a record-breaking championship reign, then the sky's the limit for her.

Onwards and upwards for Impact Wrestling's Knockouts division going forward.
