8 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (15 April - Results & Review)

2. A Hero’s Welcome

Sami Zayn
WWE

To every person who ever defended Kevin Dunn’s style of production: you’re an egg-sucking dog. And your taste sucks.

One only needs to watch the camerawork Monday night as Jey Uso fled the Judgment Day and made his way onto the concourse, ambling among the fans and heading toward the exit, where he conveniently ran into Sami Zayn. The two chatted for a minute about Sami’s history in Montreal and how he was going into this building through the front door and leaving as champion.

What followed was an incredible entrance, as Zayn tore through that same concourse, slapping hands and firing up the crowd before entering the arena itself and coming through the crowd to make his way to the ring. It was a tremendous, unique way to play up the hometown hero and make the fans an integral part of that story.

It also informed the transgression that was to come later and why it was even more shocking. Great, great stuff.
