8 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (Aug 18)

3. Lance Archer vs. Jon Cruz/Jessy Sorenson

Lance Archer
AEW

Jessy Sorenson is an ex-Impact Wrestling guy getting his first shot in AEW. He came out alone, confused as to why his partner wasn't with him, though his questions were soon answered as Archer stomped down the tunnel with Cruz over his shoulder.

A nice variation on Archer's usual squash formula, which is exactly what Shawn Spears is missing.

The mauling continued thereafter. Cruz brought the fight, showing spirit in the face of Lance's no-selling, though the jobbers stood no chance. They barely got anything on Archer here. 'The Murderhawk Monster' was straight-up brutish as he launched Cruz overhead with a goozle suplex, smashing both guys in the corners, and came off like the scariest wrestler in the company, ending his opponents with a double EBD Claw.

Few squashers do it like Lance Archer, whose subtle switch-ups ensure his hammerings never get boring.
