8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 1)

1. All He Needs Is One Shot

Chris Bey is challenging for the Impact World Championship at Final Resolution. Quality stuff.

'The Ultimate Finesser' took on Willie Mack in the main event, a rematch from their X Division Championship clash at Slammiversary. The key point of this match was Bey targeting the knee of 'Chocolate Thunder', removing Mack's agility from the equation. It made for an enjoyable watch as the former X Division Champion was forced to adapt his arsenal to suit his disadvantaged status.

With all that said, it sounds as if Chris Bey won the contest, which he didn't. A cheeky slap to the face lit a fire inside of Mack, leading to him smashing in Bey's face, followed by a match-winning Stunner. A bit of a disappointing end here, considering what we were building to, but it was all made worthwhile when Moose speared Mack post-match, only to be ran off by Rich Swann. The World Champion was then left lying after taking an Art of Finesse cutter from Bey, who posed with the World Championship to end the night.

The image of Chris Bey as Impact World Champion was enough to make this an Up.

This is a guy who's gone from owning a replica of the Impact championship as a child, to now main eventing an Impact Plus special with the chance to end the year as the actual World Champion. What makes it even more special is that, because Final Resolution has already been taped in advance, Bey could realistically end 12 December as both the Impact World Champion and the winner of the 2020 Super J Cup in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Now that, that is the art of being 'The Ultimate Finesser'.
