8 Ups & 5 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 22)

1. The Age Of The Virtuosa

At the time of writing, Deonna Purrazzo is the only Impact star to have won two end of year awards for 2020, as she was crowned both the Wrestler and Knockout of the Year. That 'The Virtuosa' started the year as, essentially, a WWE enhancement talent says a lot about how Impact have used her thus far.

Needless to say, Purrazzo is more than deserving of both awards. She's become a two-time Knockouts Champion, the first reign of which began on her first pay-per-view appearance, before she then won Impact's first knockouts Iron Man Match the following month against Jordynne Grace. She's one of the purest wrestlers Impact have on their books, not just because she wrestles in the pure wrestling format, but because she's able to adapt to any situation she's thrown into.

While Match of the Year won't be revealed until next Tuesday, Deonna certainly has a few that are up there for contention. Both of her clashes with Jordynne Grace at Slammiversary and Emergence were bangers (the Slammiversary bout was actually classed as the match of the night), and her weapons-based with Su Yung at Turning Point was also a fine contest.

2020 has seen Deonna Purrazzo rise through all the challenges which faced her. Considering the way she began her 2020, there was no-one better to end the year as Impact's Wrestler of the Year.
