8 Ups & 6 Downs From The Undertaker's WWE Career

7. Unparalleled Longevity

As rough as the past few years have been, The Undertaker's unparalleled longevity as an active WWE in-ring competitor is cause for celebration. He has been under Vince McMahon's employ for 28 years. That's insane, and while his period has brought a rollercoaster of highs and lows, nobody else has ever been able to maintain such a level of prominence for so long.

Much of 'Taker's longevity comes from his adaptability, with 'The Phenom' switching gimmicks and personas several times throughout his aeon of employment. They haven't all been hits (see: Badass, American), but at the very least, each prolonged his lifespan as a main eventer, and later, the biggest special attraction this company has ever seen.

No wrestler should ever be considered above criticism - even 'Taker, despite his dedication, sacrifices, and undeniable excellence at the absolute height of his powers. Thus, it's important to temper this point by mentioning the understandable argument that he should perhaps have called it a day by now. Even if he had, though, he'd still be remembered as an icon of longevity, and it's hard to imagine another wrestler ever managing such a stint after he's gone.
