8 Ups & 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 26)

3. Third Wheel?

Charlotte Flair

Becky Lynch cut a solid little promo prior to Charlotte Flair's impromptu SmackDown Women's Championship match with Asuka, claiming that Ronda Rousey was bringing the Raw title to WrestleMania 35, she was bringing the people, and Charlotte Flair was bringing nothing. 'The Queen' was "the third wheel." She was 100% correct in her assertion.

Such verbiage has formed much of the feud so far. Charlotte is spoiled, entitled, and spoon-fed. This is her character. She's supposed to be the company golden girl, and she should always play this up. It's why she's such an effective heel.

So why, then, did WWE take the opposite route on last night's SmackDown?

Rather than letting Charlotte be Charlotte, they decided to play her as plucky and determined, with 'The Queen' desperate to show Becky "just how deserving I am." That's not her. That's not her character. She's a pompous villainness who feels like she doesn't have to prove herself to anybody, let alone Becky Lynch, and this daft intro was one of many booking problems with last night's SD Women's Title change.
