8 Ups And 1 Down For WWE NXT (May 4)

4. Jake Atlas Had A Bad LA Knight

It's safe to say that LA Knight is already in need of a bit of TLC (no, not the forced December PPV) after having his momentum derailed a mere couple of weeks into his NXT run. A win over Dexter Lumis last week was a good start, and the sight of Jake Atlas squaring up against him on the latest episode of NXT was another step in the right direction.

Though it was almost a given that Atlas would be the one doing the job on this Tuesday night, the former gymnast still gave a decent enough account of himself, taking the fight to the former Eli Drake early with a string of delicious arm-drags.

This match was all about the closing stages, though. With Knight attempting his eye-catching leap to the top rope to catch Atlas off-guard, the latter dodged this manoeuvre and nailed the loud-mouth star with two stinging kicks. Perhaps getting a little carried away with himself, Atlas would then miss a third kick of the spinning heel variety, eating a BFT for his troubles as Knight came away with the win.

This did what it had to do; it gave Knight another tick in the W column and made Atlas look like a worthy foe even in defeat. Now throw the cocky prick into a North American title programme or another significant angle for the next few weeks and have him walk out the victor, or what was the point of bringing him to the show in the first place?
