With an NXT Women's Championship showdown between the two alpha women just a week away, Raquel Gonzalez and Mercedes Martines found themselves in a side-by-side interview scenario last night.

Yet, while these environments sometimes lend themselves to cringey dialogue and awkward silences, the exchange these two future opponents shared contained anything but that. Electric from the get-go, Gonzalez warned her more experienced adversary to keep from cutting off the current champ mid-flow. This opened the door for a naturally heated argument between the two, involving everything from Martinez claiming Big Mami Cool is merely a carbon copy of her and Gonzalez admitting her rival set the bar, only for the current title holder to raise it so high that nobody will ever be able to touch it again.

It was short, concise and hit every note necessary to sell a marquee, TakeOver-worthy title match. If only NXT used this same approach when handling the men's top title, Tuesday nights would have the potential to be a can't miss affair each and every week. Imagine that.
