8 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Apr 27)
1. Hartwell Finds A Way To Make Moon And Blackheart Pay
When it became clear that Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon were going to be in tag team action for two weeks straight, starting with a non-title bout against Aalyah and Jessi Kamea last night and an NXT Women's Tag Team Championship defence next week, it looked as though those in charge were finally going to focus more time on building this division through, you know, wrestling.
But, the moment a collection of gifts for the champs appeared at ringside, building on the supposed flowers presented to the two by their apparent admirer Dexter Lumis earlier in the night, it was clear we weren't going to get the action we were looking for.
Instead, an evidently manipulated Hartwell led an attack on the title-holders, launching a vase at Blackheart's head as Candice LeRae force-fed Moon cupcakes. As we mentioned last week, these titles are in desperate need of a riveting feud to make them feel like a prize worth fighting for. Having the focus of this story be a star losing her sh*t because she thinks her crush fancies other people is anything but that.
Here's hoping next week's Street Fight does enough to wash away the memories of this disappointing build.
