8 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Orlando

2. Revival, DIY Team Up, Break Down

The ongoing rivalry between DIY and the Revival has been one of the best storylines in WWE for the better part of the past year. And so it made perfect sense that that history would be called upon in the NXT Tag Team Championship triple threat match.

Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson seemingly buried the hatchet early on with Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, but that fizzed quickly. But at the midpoint of the match, the two teams would join forces again to take out the Authors of Pain: first with a four-man powerbomb on Rezar through a table, and then a double submission hold on Akam.

That submission hold itself was awesome, as Dawson latched on a reverse figure-four, and Gargano went to break it up, only to stop and then slap on a crossface onto Rezar. A few moments later, Dawson and Gargano teamed up to hit DIY’s finisher, and Ciampa and Dash hit Shatter Machine on Akam.

Ultimately, their hatred proved too much and Dawson inadvertently sacrificed Ciampa to AOP for the first pinfall. It was an awesome story within the match that just kept giving out tremendous, jump-out-of-your-seat moments.
