8 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Orlando

Downs...

4. It’s Your Baby, We Get It

Previously, this item has gotten a pass, and it has gotten mild criticism. But Saturday night, Triple H’s presence – even as a voiceover – is a “down.”

Even in storyline, it’s widely known that Triple H is heavily involved in the operation of NXT and the development of its wrestlers. He kicked off NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn in 2015 in the ring and this column blasted him for that. Same goes here, even though he was only heard, not seen. It still doesn’t make sense.

Triple H has a match a night later at WrestleMania as the hated corporate boss, but 24 hours earlier, we’re supposed to cheer him for his creation. If this was a completely separate universe and there was no overlap, maybe. But you don’t get to be a proud papa on Saturday and jackass boss on Sunday.
