Bet you thought this was going to be a negative, didn’t you?

Drew McIntyre came out to celebrate his Royal Rumble victory Monday night and immediately declared what everyone already knew: At WrestleMania 36, he’ll challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. Fans serenaded him with a “You deserve it!” chant, and he declared an open challenge.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson answered it, and McIntyre decided to fight both of them. He then proceeded to essentially squash the Best Tag Team in the World, hitting both with Claymore kicks and pinning both men.

While that might seem like a negative, Drew is going up against a man who tossed 13 straight wrestlers from the Rumble the previous night. Beating a tag team that has alternately jobbed and been solid in a handicap match is one way to show the dominance needed to defeat Lesnar.

It was a pretty good start for McIntyre on his Road to WrestleMania, Brock’s attack notwithstanding.
