8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 1)

4. Future Title Shot On The 18th Of Never

Cesaro and Sheamus both wanted United States Championship title matches, noting that Mark Henry had done nothing to earn his shot (very true), but what they got instead was what sounded like a hollow promise.

GM Mick Foley took the two bickering stars and put them in a match against each other and said that the person who impressed them the most – not the winner, but the one who impressed the most – would get a future title opportunity. Considering that both men were jockeying for a U.S. title match, you’ve got to believe that’s what the winner – Cesaro – would get. But it’s not like it was announced as a SummerSlam match, just a future championship opportunity.

And you’ve got to believe that with Roman Reigns confronting Rusev earlier in the show, he’ll be next in line for a shot. So that means Cesaro’s title shot will have to wait until after SummerSlam? Or could he skip the line? Or could it be a triple threat match at the PPV?

Either way, this had to be frustrating and confusing. What specifically were Cesaro and Sheamus fighting for?
