8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 1)

2. Losing Is Far From Too Sweet

Uggh. How do you even rate Monday’s match between WWE Tag Team Champions New Day and potential top challengers Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson? The duo took over early in the match, then tried to celebrate with a Too Sweet hand gesture, only for Anderson to get rolled up for a three count.

Um, what? Sure, immediately afterward, Gallows and Anderson beat the snot out of New Day, decimating Big E with two Boots of Doom and posting him, but you’ve already given away a potential SummerSlam tag title match for free, with New Day winning cleanly on a rollup because the challengers were too busy celebrating.

Now, it’s pretty safe to assume Gallows and Anderson will simply beat up New Day (much like they beat up John Cena) to force the champs to put the titles on the line, but it still was an odd choice to have them lose like that on Raw. Things can be ironed out, but it was a strange move in some ways.
