8 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 5)
3. Welcome Back Big Show
Let’s get a positive out of the way right away: Kudos to Big Show, dropping to less than 400 pounds for the first time in 20 years. At his age, he should be commended, and he probably added a couple years to his career if he wanted to continue in the ring.
However, Show’s return to Raw for the first time in five months was simply to serve as a hitman for Kevin Owens to soften up Seth Rollins (for Chris Jericho). Show acted as a tweener, shoving Rollins around, but ultimately standing up to an increasingly angry Owens, chokeslamming him and leaving KO for Rollins.
We know that Show is in the twilight of his 20-plus year career, but it’s sad to see that he returned for his only his second match on Raw since March (if you can believe that) and was cast as a heavy for the Universal Champion and then just left to let Rollins pick up the pieces. Sure, he isn’t going to be a major focus of Raw, but his return should have had a little more gravitas than that.
