8 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 36 (Part 1)
3. A Mini-Movie Extravaganza
It’s impossible to rate the Undertaker/AJ Styles Boneyard Match like you would any other wrestling match, simply because it wasn’t a wrestling match.
Once you turned that part of your brain off, you could enjoy the campiness of the brawl, as two wrestlers playing characters broke the fourth wall and referred to each other by their real names (See? They’re just people!) while employing faceless druids, mystic flames and teleportation in their battle.
The camerawork was really good, with cool lighting and angles, and the music fit the mood of the scene really well. As a match, both men threw some good punches and talked some trash. But if you just treated it like a mini-movie and grabbed some popcorn, it was a fun diversion. It was better than the awful buildup let on.
This gives you hope that the Funhouse Match Sunday night will be in the same vein.
