Leave it to WWE to use the fact that third-generation superstar Curtis Axel’s family roots run deep in Minnesota, where Raw broadcast Monday night, and then blow it all up in his face.

Axel cut an impassioned promo about the legacy of his father and grandfather, and how he was going to get revenge on Bo Dallas for attacking him last week. Axel showed more passion and fire than he has in years, attacking Dallas and hitting him with a Perfect Plex and the old Perfect rolling necksnap, but Dallas managed to get a rollup for the win.

Look, it’s clear that WWE is investing in Dallas with this reintroduction, having beaten a few jobbers, Neville and now Axel. But it stinks to finally have Axel get cheered – even though a lot of that is due to the hometown pop – and then go out and lose rather than having a chance of being rebuilt himself.
