7. Helping The Wrong Guy
WWE is known for utilizing the seemingly “random” tag team pairing of grabbing two sets of face/heel rivals, pairing them and having tag matches to pass the time before big matches between the pairs. Sunday was no different, except with one problem.
Cesaro and Apollo Crews teamed up to defeat Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, with Del Rio turning on his partner (and former League of Nations member after Sheamus taunted Alberto about tagging in and out of the match. The result was Del Rio slapping Sheamus to tag him, hitting an enzigiri and walking out. Moments later, Sheamus fell to Crews’ tossing sit-out powerbomb.
The funny thing is that this match was designed to help Crews further his feud with the Celtic Warrior and have him partner with a very popular wrestler in Cesaro. This writer might be alone, but is more curious about the breakdown of Sheamus and Del Rio than Crews winning again. It’s not so much a negative about Crews as it is a negative that the angle seemingly helped the wrong guy.
