8 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 31

7. Rusev Gets Crushed

This was bound to happen at some point in the near future. Rusev could not stay undefeated forever, and once it turned into a Cold War-esque battle, it was pretty obvious that the Bulgarian Brute had to lose. The good news here is that Rusev is talented enough to still be a solid player even without his undefeated streak. This isn€™t one of those occasions where the streak defines the wrestler. But having John Cena end the streak is just a waste. Quite simply, Cena has accomplished everything there is to accomplish in between his first U.S. Championship title reign 11 years ago and this one. He€™s a 15-time world champion and two-time Royal Rumble winner. Cena defeating Rusev doesn€™t give him some new rub, and Rusev isn€™t stronger for losing to Cena (but he€™s also not weaker). The downside here is that WWE could have actually built someone up to take down Rusev. Instead of sticking Dolph Ziggler in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match, why couldn€™t he have been built up the past couple months? He was riding high after winning at Survivor Series and could have used that as a springboard to beat Rusev. Instead, we got Cena Rising Above Russia. At least the €œRocky IV€ motif is now complete.
