8 Ways WWE Have Screwed Up Baron Corbin
7. Not Following Up On His Andre Win
Baron Corbin wasn't the first Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner that WWE failed to follow up on, and he certainly won't be the last.
Cesaro's WrestleMania XXX victory prompted hopes of a major singles push, but this never materialised. Big Show won the following year, long after his value as a top-level performer had expired, and Mojo Rawley has practically gone missing since triumphing in this year's incarnation.
'The Lone Wolf' eliminated Kane to take the trophy at WrestleMania 32. It was his first main roster appearance, and while WWE could've use this win to hand him a solid push, they failed in doing so. Corbin was painted as a midcarder from day one, and while strapping him to a rocket and throwing him into the main event picture would've been a mistake, the company could at least have built on his 'Mania momentum.
Instead, Corbin was left to languish. Fans were never given any reason to invest in him, and while the giant trophy gave him something to brag about, it amounted to nothing more than a shiny trinket. As with Cesaro before him and Mojo after, it asks the question why WWE bother with the battle royal in the first place.
