8 Weirdest WWE Romances Ever

While not as inherently weird as some of the, erm, edgier entries on this here list, the short-lived relationship between Dolph Ziggler and Lana was still unquestionably weird for a number of reasons.

It was reported from the start that WWE had high hopes for CJ 'Lana' Perry and saw her as a future face of the diva's division even if she couldn't, y'know, wrestle. She had the look and the charisma but, unfortunately, she was a heel, managing super foreign baddy Rusev. The Ravishing Russian, if she was to fulfil her potential, was going to have to turn babyface.

Enter Dolph Ziggler, perennial nearly-man and notorious WWE love rat (Okay, that might be a tad strong, but let's not forget the whole AJ Lee saga). Lana grew tired of her pushy fella, becoming smitten with Ziggler and eventually ditching the Bulgarian Brute for the Show-Off. She also ditched the business suits for the decidedly American skirts and denim jacket combination.

Ziggler and Lana displayed not a tenth of the chemistry of her and real-life husband Rusev and things got even more muddled when Ru Ru began an on-screen relationship with Summer Rae. What makes this whole thing weirder is the very abrupt manner in which it was dropped. After Lana suffered an injury in training, WWE cancelled the blowoff mixed-tag match and scrapped the whole storyline.

Rumour was that WWE also weren't happy with Lana breaking news of her and Rusev's engagement to the world via social media, thus breaching kayfabe. She made her return proper a few months later, back by Rusev's side and playing the heel. The whole business about her and Dolph was never referenced.
