8 Worst WWE Tag Champs Of Brand Extension Era

Ah yes, it’s the “but can they co-exist?” tag champs trope.

You see, Seth Rollins was in the midst of a dying run as a babyface champion, where he beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 for the WWE Universal Championship, then got mired in a death feud with Baron Corbin before losing the title back to Brock, only to beat him for it again at SummerSlam.

But then his next challenger, Braun Strowman, came along. But before they could battle for the title, the two were cast as a mismatched tag team and defeated the OC for the Raw Tag Team Championship. Less than four weeks later, they would lose them in the opener at Clash of Champions, where they’d later tangle over Rollins’ Universal title.

Got all that? The tag titles were merely there as a backdrop for Braun and Seth to try to co-exist and then to artificially add tension before their singles title match.

What a waste of a title reign.
