8 Wrestlers Who Purposefully Sabotaged Matches

7. The Dirt Bike Kid (Michinoku Pro Masked Man Tournament, 1999)

The Dirt Bike Kid's match with Great Sasuke is one of the most bizarre matches you're ever likely to see. It's clear that they aren't on the same page and, after digging and looking at the behind-the-scenes goings-on, it's easy to understand why.

For those unaware of who Dirt Bike Kid is, he was one of the more notable independent British wrestlers of the late-90s and even made a handful of appearances for ECW, wrestling the likes of Taz and Mikey Whipwreck. He was notable enough to be brought over by Michinoku Pro Wrestling in the summer '99 to compete in a masked-man tournament.

Problem was, DBK didn't wrestle in a mask and took exception to being told to wear one for the event. He removed the mask he was given prior to his match with top Michinoku star and booker Sasuke, seriously irking the former IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion. After withstanding some of Kid's offense, Sasuke went in for the kill, legitimately kicking his opponent in the ribs and head, injuring him.

Not wanting to go along with the match as planned anymore, Sasuke simply grabbed a front chancery/facelock and forced his foe to tap out. The whole thing lasted about two-and-a-half minutes. That's how long Dirt Bike Kid's career in Japan lasted due to Sasuke shooting on him and pretty much sabotaging the match (although it could be argued that Kid sabotaged it by removing his mask and trying to get all of his flashy moves in).

After the contest, Sasuke waits for Kid to come to his feet, adopting a boxing stance, apparently willing to throw down for real. Knowing he's a beaten man and in way over his head, Kid limply offered a handshake, which is blown off as Sasuke contemptuously walks to the back. In numerous interviews given to the wrestling press after the match, Dirt Bike Kid verbally ran down Sasuke, calling him a coward for turning the work into a shoot.

Hilariously, Kid faxed the Michinoku Pro office about a rematch when he got back to England. They didn't get back to him...
