8 Wrestlers Who Put Insane Details Into Things You Didn't Notice

Believe certain, currently out-of-work, veteran commentators and you'd think selling is a lost art in professional wrestling. That it's all flips and choreographed gymnastics is the frequent and exhausting cry from these dissenting quarters, who demand a return to more Southern sensibilities.

For the most part, this is just antiquated old men yelling at clouds - the best workers are as committed to the craft as ever - but whenever an idiotic WWE babyface turns up on Raw fresh off a PPV pounding looking fresh as a daisy, you start to wonder if they have a point.

Bret Hart, obviously, was the best of the best. Selling injuries from one night to the next was bread and butter for the Hitman, and his attention to detail extended to the extremely minute. Here's an example. En route to his King of the Ring '93 triumph, The Hitman met the tough challenge of Razor Ramon. Whilst he ultimately overcame the opening round challenge, it wasn't without strife; at one stage, The Bad Guy viciously stomped Hart's hand, to the disgust of the crowd.

Later in the night, ahead of a similarly stern test against Mr. Perfect, Bret had taped up his fingers, a minor but crucial visual indicator of his decay throughout the evening - and the necessary smarts to win the tournament only the 'Excellence of Execution' possessed. In the modern era, this tiniest of touches would be hammered home by a commentary team alarmed at the attention to detail.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
